2009 CLASS TESTIMONIALS
Coming into the Lado School I only had a basic knowledge of how guitars were constructed. Throughout the course however, I learned all of the steps to construction including secrets that can't be taught anywhere else. Seeing Joe's quality of work and teaching are all the evidence you need that you can't learn this craft from reading a book. Only by studying here under a master craftsman can you learn the skills to excel you in quality building and repairs for guitars. Morgan Giles
Taking the Lado Lutherie course has fulfilled my dream to build a hand made instrument. I now have the confidence to continue building instruments even though not having previous wood working experience. The Lado Lutherie School taught me all the important steps to building a quality instrument, but with common tools that can be purchased at any local hardware store. Matt Harrison
I learned an incredible amount at the Lado Lutherie School. Without the knowledge of a master craftsman like Joe, I never would have been able to make a beautiful looking and more importantly beautiful sounding guitar. Joe's constant effort to create the best instruments possible is apparent in all of his guitars and is a quality that has been engraved into all of us. Matt Berg
I chose the Lado School of Lutherie because I wanted to learn the essential skills necessary for guitar repair. Joe's teaching have given me the confidence to pursue this as a full time career. Dennis Wardie
I would like to thank you for the great experience at the Lado Lutherie School. The instruction and examples of building, repair and setup of guitars was very thorough and a great experience not to mention alot of fun!! Rob Vendrasco
As a cabinetmaker 16 years into my trade, I've long felt guitar making was within my grasp. Though after much research and many books read, I kept feeling so many critical points were neglected that success eluded me. Enter Joe Lado's School of Lutherie. Working with a master Lutherier from the old world traditions I have peered into the world of artistry and craftsmanship that I never thought I would see first hand. I have seen tricks of the other trade and been immersed in the essentials of instrument making in a way that no book or DVD could equal. Though not perfect, my 12 string acoustic is the envy of my son's music teacher. Joe's school has set me on the path to becoming a professional lutherier. Scott Vernon |

August 14, 2004 Dear Joe, Just wanted to thank you for giving me the opportunity to fulfill a dream I've had for many years. The 9 week guitar building course that I took at your school was everything I thought it would be and more. Your approach to teaching the old art of building guitars as welll as using the most p to date technology available gave me a good understanding and appreciation for the art of building and repairing guitars. I feel the knowledge you have passed on to me has set me in the right direction and would recommend any of your courses to anyone considering this trade. Thanks again for a great time and a great experience. All the best, |

August 18, 2004 Dear Joe, Just a short note to tlet you know how much I've enjoyed learning how to make guitars these last four weeks. I have been playing guitar for about four years now and I never thought guitars were as complex as they are. While I have been working with you I have learned from your example not to love guitars for just their sound but for how much work a craftsman does to make these works of art. This course was really worth the money and all the time that I spent with you. I would recommend it to anyone looking far a challenge and training from a true master. Thanks again. |

What a great experience to learn from a master with 40+ years under his belt. As a graduate from another lutherie school , I found Joe's course to be a lot more memorable as things weren't just done once. They were repeated throughout the course giving me skills that won't be forgotten. I also enjoyed doing repairs under Joe's tutalage having a master to ask questions is pretty handy and has helped me build confidence in my work that will last a lifetime.

Dear Joe, I just wanted to write to say thanks for the instruction, Joe. It truly was life altering! Before taking your course, guitar building and repair wa a part-time job. Now, I have the skills and confidence to open my own shop, full time! I have been repairing stringed instruments for over 15 years, and have taken numerous instructional courses. I thought I knew it all! Taking the Lado guitar repair course was an eye-opening , humbling experience. I learned more on your repair couse than all the other courses conbined. I came here a repair technician, I left a craftsman! Joe Kovacic is the master! Thanks Joe. |
